Had a typical NY day. Finally got my sofa delivery. Love it. A perfect addition to the new apartment. It functions as comfy additional seating in the dining area and will make a cozy “third” bed for sleepovers (in NY you find you have a lot of visitors). I met Barnaby for lunch at one of our favorite little Italian restaurants in the old neighborhood — Centrolire. Had a yummy lunch then walked over to the Metropolitan Museum to see the Bronzino drawings and a contemporary photography show. We’re enjoyed them both and a small show of Victorian collages that has inspired me to get out my paste and scissors. Tonight we went to see Bill Charlap at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola in Columbus Circle. His trio rocked and the room is so lovely it’s always a pleasure to go.

Am waiting

Have been waiting all morning for a furniture delivery. Feel like I’ve been waiting for this delivery for a month. Woke at dawn to see a cerulean sky streaked with skinny horizontal clouds. One doesn’t leave the natural beauty of a forest and expect to gaze out of windows in this grey city but I find I do. New York surprises me often. We are so happy to be here.

People like the word jazz more than they like the sound of it.

Do people read this stuff or is this just for me?

Having never done this before, I’m not sure where to start. Just arrived in NYC and even though it’s 2:30 a.m. I’m not really tired. Probably a little wired from the Hormel chili I made as a snack since there aren’t any coffee shops open in Harlem after midnight, at least not in our immediate neighborhood. I’ll have to explore this further tomorrow.
